Bob Farentinos was a long-term member of VLRC and an inspiration to all of us. He took on learning how to row at 60 and shortly after he was winning races and earning medals. But why not take up another sport at 70? Bob started to stand up paddle with his buddies Ted, David, and Rick in what they called the 40, 50, 60, 80 club. As Ted wrote in the local SUP website, Bob had only one speed: grind!
Please save the date for a paddle out celebrating Bob Farentinos on July 17 at 10 am. Participants (members and non-members of the club) can join with their boats, SUPs, and kayaks. After the fun in the water we will be dedicating two commemorative benches in Bob's honor at approximately 11:30 am.
Use the options below to make a donation in Bob's honor. The funds will go towards the benches and the VLRC Junior Youth Scholarship that allows youth experiencing financial constraints to access school age rowing programs and help students with regatta fees and travel.
