A fun fact about Delvan is the tattoo of the rowing shell that he had down the center of his back. His first & only tattoo for that matter! Not many people ever saw it, but it was there, a testament to his love of the sport.
Delvan was known for his quiet but kind nature. Although he was more of a listener than a talker, Delvan loved to brag about the Club and his fellow rowers, from the youngest members to the more seasoned veterans. He was very proud of the Club’s growth over the past 20 years & although a knee injury had kept him out of his boat these past couple of years, he was happy to stay involved as a member of the board. His memory will ‘row on’ at VLRC as the club will be the keeper of his personal shell, the shell named after him & his late wife Sue as well as the ‘Cassandra Marie’ named after his eldest daughter who passed in 2004.
A Celebration of Delvan’s life will be held on Sunday, May 1 st @ 1pm @ the VLRC boathouse. We hope you will join his friends & family in remembering a truly remarkable man.
