    COACH BILL

    Our Founder

Bill Kalenius was far more than just a rowing coach. For many of us "Coach Bill" was a life coach. He always said rowing shouldn't be the first priority in our lives. His priorities were faith, family, friends, and then rowing. Throughout his life he touched the hearts of many, many people. He helped us to see ourselves differently and even find purpose in our own lives through rowing.

Coach Bill passed away September 23, 2009 after battling colon cancer for six years. We will remember Bill not only as an amazing rowing coach, but an amazing man, who put others first and changed lives.

  • VANCOUVER LAKE

The calm, shallow waters of the lake create an ideal spot for kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, dragon boating, and rowing. There is a great deal to explore right on the lake including numerous nooks and crannies that are only accessible by small, manually powered water craft. But the lake is also the start of the 32 mile Lewis River-Vancouver Lake Waterway Trail.

    Vancouver Lake Regional Park

This 190-acre regional park is adjacent to VLRC and stretches for 2.5 miles along the west shore of Vancouver Lake. With 35 developed acres, visitors can enjoy picnicking, windsurfing and sand volleyball. Learn more

    Lewis River-Vancouver Lake Waterway Trail

The Lewis River-Vancouver Lake Water Trail includes Vancouver Lake and features sites of historic significance, one National Wildlife Refuge (Ridgefield), two state wildlife areas (Shillapoo and Two Forks), a state park (Paradise Point) and hundreds of acres of other public and private conservation lands allowing ample opportunities for wildlife viewing.
